New experimental whisky.
New experimental brand world.

A fascinating launch campaign. The Experimental Series is one of the most disruptive and ground-breaking collections of whisky in the category, and the sharpest expression of Glenfiddich’s maverick spirit. Following the previous four, we were asked to create launch campaign assets for the fifth release, arguably the most experimental yet.

Orchard Experiment is the first ever single malt Scotch whisky finished in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks, an apple digestif made from a blend of fresh, farm-pressed apple juice and apple cider brandy.

We created an experimental new brand world, one that captured the freshness of the whisky but retained its luxurious and experiment-in-progress vibe.

For the key visuals, apples and other flavour cues were sliced ultra-thin, almost translucent, and backlit to give them a refreshing, clean and bright aesthetic. The vibrant orchard green stag icon from the bottle creates disruption and a more experimental feel.

It was complemented by a cinematic, experimental 3-minute film, showing the journey from sun-dappled Somerset orchard to being ‘ripened’ or finished in Scotland. This was used on TV in the UK and globally on digital, with cut-downs for owned social and e-commerce channels.

The fascinating brand world was a brave new step for an iconic Scotch whisky brand with innovation at its core.

That’s fascinating…

While filming on location in Somerset, in the beautiful apple orchards of Kingsbury Episcopi, Gary and crew were regularly chased by the Temperley family’s guard geese. The things they had to endure to get the perfect shot!

Orchard Experiment
Orchard Experiment represents everything that is maverick about Glenfiddich. Purple have perfectly and evocatively brought the story to life, refreshing the Experimental Series look through a new key visual and exciting film to make it modern, compelling and luxurious.
